Kellyanne Conway: People need to show Melania Trump ‘some respect’

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway thinks people need to show first lady Melania Trump “some respect” after she was criticized for wearing stilettos on Air Force One on her way to Texas.

“We saw what was in the president’s and the first lady’s hearts that day, not what was on their feet,” Conway told “Fox and Friends” on Thursday. “It suggested to me that the Left is really very worried that the president is successfully showing leadership and compassion and empathy and resolve and action.”

She called the controversy over the first lady’s shoe choice “predictable” because feminists “have judgment end on end.”

“She can wear whatever she wants,” Conway continued. “This is what cracks me up about feminists … They get upset if you wear a pretty dress and somebody calls me ‘Honey.'”

Trump changed into sneakers before exiting the plane in Texas. The first lady’s office said Tuesday that “it’s sad” people are more worried about Trump’s shoes than hurricane-ravaged Texas.

“She’s brilliant, she’s incredibly savvy,” Conway said. “Those of us privileged enough to know her and work with her see what an important part of this administration she is. And people ought to show some respect for her.”
