Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson predicted Wednesday evening that Hillary Clinton would launch nuclear weapons if put to the test as commander in chief during a national emergency.
“I think she is going on press the button,” Johnson told MSNBC “Hardball” host Chris Matthews at a town hall.
The former New Mexico governor told Matthews and the audience that Clinton would be “more hawkish in that role” than when she was secretary of state during President Obama’s first term.
The host followed up, asking if Clinton had a “happy trigger” despite Johnson and running mate Bill Weld saying she was qualified to be president.
“I think she won’t err on the side of not being the aggressor,” Johnson said added. “I think she’s going to shoot. I think she’s going to shoot. She won’t be — herself, she won’t be perceived as weak. She’s going to shoot.”
