Leesburg police on Monday were still investigating a possible drowning reported Sunday.
A caller told police about 11:40 a.m. Sunday that he saw a man calling for help from a drainage pond west of the Leesburg Bypass and south of Battlefield Parkway. The man then went silent, the caller said, according to Leesburg Police.
Police could not see anyone in the water when they arrived and there were no witnesses on site who had seen the man, police said. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office dive team assisted.
Police are still trying to confirm whether a drowning actually occurred.
Anyone with information can call 703-771-4500.
