Trump secures ‘temporary’ halt to New York tax return subpoena

Attorneys for President Trump secured a “temporary arrangement” with the Manhattan district attorney’s office to halt a subpoena demanding the president’s tax returns.

The agreement follows Judge Victor Marrero ordering a one-day stay of the subpoena, but he added a final decision would take “weeks or months.”

The Manhattan district attorney’s office said they would not be enforcing any subpoena until Oct. 7 or two days after Marrero comes to a ruling on the subpoena.

The Department of Justice had asked Marrero to halt the case until it determined whether to join Trump in asking for an injunction.

The subpoenas are part of a case by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. into hush money payments Trump allegedly made to women who had affairs with him.
