Chris Christie on VP rumors: I don’t like coming in second

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie won’t like the feeling of losing if he isn’t Donald Trump’s vice presidential pick.

The presumed Republican nominee is expected to officially unveil who his running mate will be from the Hilton Midtown in New York City Friday morning. And multiple reports Thursday afternoon suggest it will be Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Christie, Pence and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich were said to be on the shortlist.

“Listen, no matter what phone call he makes to me today, I will take a deep breath and prepare for tomorrow,” Christie told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace in an interview from New Jersey on Thursday afternoon.

“I’m a competitive person, so I’m not gonna say it won’t bother me if I’m not selected,” Christie added. “Of course it bothers you a little bit, because if you’re a competitive person like I am and you’re used to winning like I am, again, you don’t like coming in second. Ever.”

Christie said if he doesn’t get picked, he’ll “just go back to work.”
