A Republican congressman has a message for former Vice President Joe Biden and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke: If they want to take Americans’ semi-automatic rifles, they can start by trying to take his.
Colorado Rep. Ken Buck told the pair, who chatted about repealing parts of the Second Amendment during a taped appearance at a Whataburger in Texas, that they should swing by his congressional office in Washington and attempt to take his red, white, and blue patterned AR-15.
“I have a message for Joe Biden and Beto O’Rourke. If you want to take everyone’s AR-15 in America, why don’t you swing by my office in Washington, D.C., and start with this one?” Buck asked before grabbing the gun from its mount on the wall behind him. “Come and take it.”

O’Rourke, who failed to galvanize the Democratic base during his run for president, made outlawing the sale or possession of AR-15s a cornerstone of his policy platform. Biden brought O’Rourke onstage this week and promised to put the former Texas congressman in charge of his administration’s gun control effort.
“I want to make something clear,” Biden said during a pre-Super Tuesday rally with O’Rourke in Texas. “I’m going to guarantee you this is not the last you’ve seen of him. You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re going to be the one who leads this effort.”
At a Democratic debate in September, then-candidate O’Rourke said he would instruct government officials to take American’s semi-automatic rifles if he were elected president.
