Utah Sen. Mike Lee will not seek a spot in Republican leadership next year.
His office confirmed the news to Politico Monday morning.
Lee, a freshman senator, was aiming for the Republican Policy Committee chairmanship, the No. 4 role in party heirarchy. Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming holds that role.
