President Trump on Friday defended his embattled EPA chief and dismissed speculation that he would soon replaced, a signal that Scott Pruitt’s job is safe despite a string of damaging stories about him in the press.
“Do you believe that the Fake News Media is pushing hard on a story that I am going to replace A.G. Jeff Sessions with EPA Chief Scott Pruitt, who is doing a great job but is TOTALLY under siege? Do people really believe this stuff?” Trump tweeted Friday morning. “So much of the media is dishonest and corrupt!”

Pruitt has come under fire recently for flying first class, giving pay raises to his aides, and only paying $50 a night to stay at a condo owned by an energy lobbyist. Pruitt has said he didn’t know about the two proposed raises to his close aides, and said he stopped those raises from going through once he learned about them.
