Baltimore City police are investigating a double shooting outside of a downtown dance club that left a Baltimore City man dead early Monday morning. Shots erupted after 2 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot behind the Staples store in the 1000 block of Russell Street near M&T Bank Stadium, police said.

Club Paradox at Hamburg Street had been hosting a “high school” night until about 2 a.m. when a group of young adults left the club and gathered in the nearby parking lot.

“At that point, there was some type of altercation that escalated to gunshots resulting in two people being hit and one died,” said Agent Donny Moses, police spokesman.

Club security requested help with crowd control from Southern District police officers, who heard the gunshots about 40 minutes after the club party let out, police said.

The 20-year-old victim, whose name will not be released until his family is notified, was taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore City where he was pronounced dead. The second victim, 20, whose name was not released, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Moses said.
