Pence calls Kamala Harris to offer congratulations and assistance

Vice President Mike Pence called Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Thursday to offer his congratulations and assistance ahead of next week’s swearing-in, a transition official confirmed to the Washington Examiner.

Two Harris aides confirmed the phone call to the Washington Examiner, which was first reported Friday by the New York Times. According to an official, Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff may also visit the vice president and second lady Karen Pence at their official residence, Number One Observatory Circle.

It was Harris and Pence’s first conversation since the election.

Pence has said he will attend President-elect Joe Biden and Harris’s swearing-in next week. Trump has said he will not and is expected to depart earlier that morning from Joint Base Andrews.
