Jordan Cashmyer, who appeared on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant television series, has died at 26.
Cashmyer’s family announced her death on social media in a statement saying they heard of her death on Saturday night. The family said their hearts “are truly broken” and that “no parent should ever have to go through losing a child.” The cause of her death is currently unknown.
“Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy,” the statement read. “Please understand and respect our privacy at this time. We are surrounded by the love and support of our children, grand daughter Lyla and family members.”

Cashmyer appeared in season five, episode nine of 16 and Pregnant in 2014 as she struggled with homelessness, employment, and teenage pregnancy. Her boyfriend at the time, Derek Taylor, was also in the show, and she eventually gave birth to a daughter named Evie. Last year, she gave birth to a second child named Lyla, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Producers of the show Teen Mom, a spinoff of 16 and Pregnant, wrote on social media it was “saddened” to hear of Cashmyer’s death.
“Our hearts go out to her family and friends during this difficult time,” the show’s statement read.
