The artist formerly known as Kanye West, who recently legally changed his name to Ye, was spotted wearing an unusual prosthetic mask while meeting with former Trump attorney and “fixer” Michael Cohen, who flipped on the then-president as part of a 2018 plea agreement. Tuesday’s coffee meeting at Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar at Loews Regency Hotel on New York City’s Upper East Side marked the second meeting between Cohen and Ye, who had previously been spotted in the mask on Monday at John F. Kennedy International Airport, according to Page Six.

Cohen and Ye, who had newspapers spread across the table, were joined by public relations executive Ronn Torossian and Israeli Judo athlete Or Sasson. New York City mayoral candidate Eric Adams was supposed to attend but got held up by meetings, the outlet added. While Ye initially came to the coffee shop without the mask, he later put it on for privacy reasons, Cohen said.
“The purpose [of the mask] was so that people would not recognize him,” he told the outlet. “The first 10 minutes we sat down, he was mobbed by people … who wanted photos and to say hello. So, he put on this mask to give him some anonymity, which interestingly enough, did not really work.”
This unlikely pair met at Sant Ambroeus earlier this month, although the reason for the visit remains unclear.
