D.C. gets more (craft) beer friendly

D.C. beer tasters can now sip brew fresh from District craft breweries.

The D.C. Council passed a bill Tuesday that allows beer tastings on the premises of craft breweries. The existing law only allowed beer tastings grocery stores and retail establishments, but didn’t mention craft breweries.

That might be because there’s only one such brewery in the District, and D.C. Brau just started churning out its supply last month.

Ward 5 Councilman Harry Thomas says at least one other craft brewery is on its way.

“Supporting the growth of small craft breweries like D.C. Brau will spur economic development and increase visitor traffic,” he said in a statement.
