‘They’re blowing it!’: Bill Maher warns Democrats they’re moving too far Left to beat Trump

HBO host Bill Maher warned the Democratic Party that they are moving so far to the Left that they risk alienating the average American.

Arguing during his closing monologue Friday that Americans are fatigued by President Trump, Maher claimed that it should be easy for a Democrat to win in 2020. Nevertheless, Maher warned that the Democrats are ruining their chances because of their extreme policy positions.

“All the Democrats have to do to win is to come off less crazy than Trump — and, of course, they’re blowing it!” Maher explained. “Coming across as unserious people who are going to take away all your money so migrants from Honduras can go to college for free and get a major in ‘America sucks.'”

Maher then asserted that even though he is not thrilled with former Vice President Joe Biden, he is likely the party’s best chance. Likening him to nondairy creamer, Maher said of Biden, “Nobody loves it, but in a jam, it gets the job done.”

Earlier in the show, Maher mocked the 2020 Democratic field for having spent more time in the recent debates criticizing former President Barack Obama than they did Trump.

“The Democratic candidates went after the president hard. Unfortunately, the president was Obama,” he joked. “The guy with the 97% approval rating among the Democrats. His shit is not woke enough now.”

Even Obama himself is reportedly “exasperated” by his party’s leftward lurch. “He has not been surprised that aspects of his tenure are now being criticized,” CNN reported Friday. “Still, he also has privately expressed exasperation at some policy proposals and promises that he believes are unrealistic. And he and people around him question the wisdom in assailing the record of a popular ex-president rather than the unpopular-by-comparison current one.”
