Peter Navarro says White House operating with assumption Trump wins second term

White House officials are focused on operating with President Trump’s agenda in mind rather than beginning the transition to a Biden administration, according to White House trade adviser Peter Navarro.

In a Fox Business interview on Friday, host Maria Bartiromo asked Navarro if he was at all concerned at the prospect of President-elect Joe Biden rolling back the Trump administration’s decision-making related to TikTok and a ban on U.S. citizens from investing in companies believed to have ties to the Chinese military. Navarro rejected the idea that Biden won the election.

“Maria, we’re moving forward here at the White House under the assumption that there will be a second Trump term,” Navarro said. “I think it’s really important, before people’s heads explode here, to understand that what we seek here is verifiable ballots, certifiable ballots, and an investigation into what are growing numbers of allegations of fraud under signed affidavits by witnesses.”

Navarro said his personal belief is that Trump won the election, calling media declarations of a Biden victory an “immaculate deception.”

“What we need to do is go through the process as we did with Bush v. Gore and see where we get. Until we do that, our assumption is the second Trump term. We think he won that election. And any speculation about what Joe Biden might do I think is moot at this point,” he continued.

Earlier this week, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also declined to entertain the idea of a Biden presidency when asked if the department was “currently preparing to engage with the Biden transition team.”

“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” he told reporters at the State Department.

In an interview with the Washington Examiner, Trump said he considered the possibility that he “maybe” lost the election days ago, but immediately reneged, asserting that his campaign has compiled evidence otherwise. “But now, I see evidence, and we have hundreds of affidavits,” Trump said.

According to the Associated Press, Biden has 290 Electoral College votes, 20 above what is needed to clinch the presidency.
