Calif. Gov. Brown says Trump’s wall may be used to keep people in

California Gov. Jerry Brown compared President Trump’s planned wall on the Mexican border to the Berlin Wall, saying that it could be used to prevent Americans from leaving the country.

In an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, Brown said that he didn’t know if the wall was meant “to keep me in, or keep them out.”

With talk about building a major wall, he said, there’s “a lot of odor here of kind of a strongman,” and “having a wall locking people in is one of those characteristics” of an authoritarian regime.

Nevertheless, Brown declined to promise to sue the federal government over any wall built along the border in his state, pledging instead to be strategic about stopping the wall.

“We’re going to fight, and we’re going to fight very hard, but we’re not going to bring stupid lawsuits,” he said.
