Former Prince George’s County Executive Jack Johnson pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony counts of extortion and conspiracy, and witness and evidence tampering during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt.

“I am entering a plea of guilty, your honor,” Johnson said.

Johnson, 61, and his wife, Prince George’s County Counciwoman Leslie Johnson, were arrested in November in an FBI raid in which Jack Johnson told his wife to flush a $100,000 check from a developer down the toilet and Johnson was found with $80,000 stuffed in her bra and underwear, authorities said.

Jack Johnson, whose term expired in December, was indicted on eight corruption-related charges in February, including bribery and witness and evidence tampering.

Prosecutors said he accepted more than $200,000 from a developer in exchange for federal housing dollars.

Leslie Johnson, 59, was scheduled to plead guilty earlier this month, but the hearing was postponed.
