Nurses prepared to strike… again

The union representing about 1,600 nurses at the Washington Hospital Center has voted in favor of holding a one-day strike to protest staffing and wage cuts.

National Nurses United last threatened to strike the day before Thanksgiving, but then backed off after hospital officials agreed to return to the bargaining talks for 90 days.

The date for the latest strike has not been set, union officials say, but it’s likely to take place sometime in early March.
