Trump: Cruz, Kasich ‘should get out’

Donald Trump on Thursday called on his Republican presidential rivals Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich to get out of the race now that they have no chance of winning a majority of delegates in the primaries.

“Senator Ted Cruz has been MATHEMATICALLY ELIMINATED from race. He said [John] Kasich should get out for same reason. I think both should get out!” Trump tweeted Thursday morning.

Trump was playing off Cruz’s call for Kasich to leave the race earlier in the month, after Kasich was mathematically eliminated. Now that Cruz is mathematically eliminated after his rout in New York, the Texas senator has been arguing that nobody will reach the 1,237 delegates need to clinch a majority.

Trump’s tweet came just minutes before he and his family were scheduled to go on NBC’s “Today” show for an interview and town hall event.

On Wednesday, Trump again called on the Texas senator to drop out following a dismal third place finish in Tuesday’s New York primary.
