Biden: I’m ‘confident’ Clinton will be president

Vice President Joe Biden said that he believes Hillary Clinton will soon go on to win the Democratic nomination and he is confident that the American people will elect her president.

“I feel confident that Hillary will be the nominee, and I feel confident she’ll be the next president,” Biden said in a “Good Morning America” interview, set to air in full Wednesday morning.

President Obama hasn’t endorsed a candidate in the Democratic primary yet, though the party leadership has favored Clinton. The vice president publicly considered jumping into the race himself and then later decided against it. Biden has made favorable comments about both Clinton and her opponent Bernie Sanders over the last few months.

During an April interview Biden confessed that he would “like to see a women elected” to the White House, but during another interview with the New York Times he admitted he preferred Sanders campaign message.

“I like the idea of saying ‘We can do much more,’ because we can,” Biden said of the democratic socialist.
