Montgomery County police arrested two men who they said were running an illegal auto repair scam in Aspen Hill.
Police said the men approached a victim in the Home Depot, at 14000 Georgia Ave., and offered to repair body damage to the vehicle for $620.
Instead of fixing the damage, the suspects allegedly applied concrete mud, which is not intended to be used on metal. The suspects were also going to use spray paint instead of car paint, police said. A repair shop estimated that the damage done to the vehicle to be $2,500.
Police arrested Sean Marks, 34, and Steve Adams, 41, both of the 14300 block of Georgia Avenue, on charges of malicious destruction of property.
Police have identified another victim in the scam. If you believe you’ve been a victim of these two suspects, police urge you to call (240) 773-5500.
