Arnold Schwarzenegger: Scott Pruitt ‘will go down in history books’ as ‘the worst’ EPA chief ever

Actor and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated Scott Pruitt’s resignation from the Environmental Protection Agency, saying history will not reflect kindly on his leadership.

“It’s about time,” Schwarzenegger, a Republican, tweeted Thursday. “He will go down in history books [as] the worst EPA Administrator we’ve ever had.”

Pruitt resigned Thursday as scandals relating to his time leading the EPA under President Trump piled up. Pruitt was subject to at least a dozen federal investigations that spanned from a $50-per-night condo rental deal with the wife of an energy lobbyist to his frequent first-class travel. He is also accused of retaliating against EPA staffers who questioned his decisions, and using EPA employees to run his personal errands and find a high-paying job for his wife.

Trump announced via Twitter that he had accepted Pruitt’s resignation.

Schwarzenegger has previously accused Pruitt of “doing the bidding for oil companies and the coal companies.” In February, he called for Pruitt to be “removed immediately” as EPA administrator.
