Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh appeared gracious when asked about the news that President Trump intends to award him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Limbaugh, 69, who revealed an advanced lung cancer diagnosis on Monday, spoke to Fox News while he was Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday night.
“I’m still in awe,” he stated. “I haven’t been told what he’s going to say, so I don’t really know.”
The president said he would present Limbaugh with the Medal of Freedom during a private lunch with network anchors preceding the annual address to members of Congress.
The award is presented to “individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public or private endeavors,” according to the White House.
The president wished Limbaugh, who announced he’ll be missing his show to undergo treatment, a “speedy recovery” and called him a “great guy & fantastic political talent” on Monday night.
“I feel great! I feel good.”
