Capt. Kirk is headed back to space

William Shatner, who brought to life Capt. James Kirk in the Star Trek franchise, will head to space aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-18, according to a statement from Jeff Bezos’s company.

Shatner, 90, will lift off on Oct. 12, accompanied by Audrey Powers, Blue Origin’s vice president of mission and flight operations, and crewmates Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries, the company said.

“I’ve heard about space for a long time now,” Shatner said. “I’m taking the opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle.”
