President Trump celebrated Fox News’ record-high inauguration ratings on Twitter Tuesday evening. The newly minted commander-in-chief also jabbed rival TV network CNN.
“Congratulations to @FoxNews for being number one in inauguration ratings. They were many times higher than FAKE NEWS @CNN – public is smart!” Trump wrote.

Fox averaged 8.7 million viewers, while NBC fell in second place at 5.9 million, and ABC took third with just under 5 million. CNN was ranked far behind, with a total audience of 2.6 million during the 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. events.
Fox leans conservatively and likely netted the most viewers because its followers have watched Trump on the network throughout the campaign.
