Former U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Linda Springer endorsed Donald Trump on Wednesday.
Springer served as head of OPM during President George W. Bush’s administration, and also worked in the Office of Management and Budget.
“I am delighted to offer my endorsement of Donald Trump for President. He is a proven leader with the strength and determination essential to address the critical challenges our country is facing,” Springer said in a statement shared by the Trump campaign. “His commitment to America and repairing our ills has inspired millions. I look forward to joining with them in supporting this historic movement and the candidate who can bring a fresh perspective to Washington, D.C.”
In 2015, after Springer’s tenure, the OPM suffered a massive hack that reportedly exposed the records of 22 million current and former federal employees. The Chinese government reportedly arrested hackers it said were involved in the hack.
Trump has advocated a “zero-tolerance policy” for Chinese hackers, which vows to “enforce stronger protections against Chinese hackers” without detailing specific changes to federal rules or law.
