Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers responded Tuesday to the controversy surrounding comments he made about the COVID-19 vaccine.
Rodgers said he understood how people could be misled by his statements about COVID-19, including telling reporters in August that he was “immunized” before admitting last week that he was not vaccinated against the virus, which he eventually caught.
“I acknowledge that I made some comments that people might have felt were misleading,” he said during a Tuesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show. “To anybody who felt misled by those comments, I take full responsibility for those comments.”
AARON RODGERS SLAMS ‘WOKE MOB’ AND INSISTS HE DIDN’T LIE ABOUT VACCINATION STATUS
Rodgers said last week he did not get the vaccine because he had an allergy to the mRNA vaccines and had concerns about adverse reactions to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The NFL player said he “didn’t lie in the initial press conference” because he had gone through an “immunization regime” but that he also didn’t say he was unvaccinated because the NFL had a “witch hunt that was going on across the league” for those opposed to the league’s strict protocol.
After Rodgers tested positive for COVID-19 last week and was out for the Green Bay Packers’ game against the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, he indicated he got advice from podcaster Joe Rogan, who treated his COVID-19 infection last month with a “kitchen sink” approach that included anti-parasite treatment ivermectin and monoclonal antibodies.

His comments attracted backlash from some medical experts and commentators. Prevea Health announced Sunday that it dropped Rodgers as a spokesman due to its commitment to “encouraging and helping all eligible populations to become vaccinated against COVID-19.”
Rodgers slammed his critics, saying he was in “the crosshairs of the woke mob” because he’s unvaccinated.
