President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence took to Twitter Saturday to tout the administration’s economic milestones, as Pence appeared in front of the annual Values Voter summit in Washington, D.C.
“This economy isn’t booming because of President Obama’s policies — it’s booming because we’ve been rolling back the failed policies of his administration since day one,” Pence wrote in a tweet.
This economy isn’t booming because of President Obama’s policies – it’s booming because we’ve been rolling back the failed policies of his administration since day one. Jobs are coming back, confidence is back, and America is back – and we are just getting started! #VVS18

He pointed to increases in jobs, noting that the administration is “just getting started.”
Government figures released earlier this month showed 201,000 new jobs were created in August, beating economists’ expectations. The unemployment rate in August was 3.9 percent, close to the 44-year low of 3.8 percent hit earlier this year.
Pence also talked up the administration’s tax cuts in his remarks at the summit for social conservatives, contrasting the Trump administration’s actions with those of the previous administration.
“[T]his President and this Congress enacted the LARGEST tax cuts and tax reform in American history! Promises made; promises kept!” he tweeted.
While the last administration raised taxes on the American people, this President and this Congress enacted the LARGEST tax cuts and tax reform in American history! Promises made; promises kept!

The remarks echoed earlier sentiments from Trump, who called attention to the economic and unemployment milestones in a tweet earlier Saturday. Trump said those records are “being set on a daily basis – and it is not by accident.”

The administration has also presided over record low unemployment for Hispanic workers, which lodged new lows in June and again in July. High school dropouts also saw a record low jobless rate in July, and the jobless rate for women notched a low of 3.5 percent in April and May.
Trump also boasted of the records in a rally Friday in Springfield, Mo., to support Republican senate candidate and Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley.
“Household incomes among Hispanic Americans have just set a new record, think of that. Income for Hispanic Americans has set a new record. Hispanic American unemployment recently reached the lowest rate in recorded American history,” he said to the crowd gathered at JQH Arena on the Missouri State University. “African American unemployment recently achieved the lowest rate ever recorded in our country’s history.”
