Reporter for conservative outlet blocked from Jon Ossoff campaign event

A reporter for the right-leaning Washington Free Beacon website was blocked from entering campaign event hosted by Democrat Jon Ossoff, who is competing in a hotly contested race for a congressional seat in Georgia.

On Twitter, reporter Brent Scher wrote Monday that he and his outlet were “not welcome” at the event.

Scher authored a critical report of Ossoff’s campaign earlier in the day that challenged Ossoff’s claim that he lives “three blocks” away from the district he’s hoping to represent.

Scher’s report said that Ossoff, who has admitted he lives with his fiancée while she completes medical school, actually lives roughly 3 miles away from the district.

Similarly, a writer for the liberal ThinkProgress blog was reportedly barred from entering an event hosted by Ossoff’s Republican opponent, Karen Handel.

The special election race between Ossoff and Handel has attracted national media attention as a potential sign of how voters view the Trump administration.

The election takes place Tuesday.
