Tiffany Trump offers personal look at relationship with her father

CLEVELAND — Tiffany Trump gave Republican voters personal insights and anecdotes about her father during her GOP convention debut Tuesday night, as she spoke about how Donald Trump has shaped her as a person.

“He’s always helped me be the best version of myself, by encouragement and by example he motivates me to work my hardest and always stay true to what I am and what I believe,” Tiffany Trump said.

“That’s what he does,” she continued. “He draws out the talent and drive in people, so that they can achieve their full potential. That’s a great quality to have in a father, and better yet, in the president of the United States.”

Tiffany also spoke of how her father takes pride in her accomplishments “both big and small,” and takes an interest in her life. When someone close to her died, “the first call I got, as I knew I would, came from my father.”

“In person, my father is so friendly, so considerate, so funny and so real,” Tiffany Trump told the packed arena.

As the recent college graduate took to the stage she excused her nerves, explaining to voters that she didn’t necessarily expect to be speaking at her father’s convention, and didn’t have much public speaking experience. Trump’s other daughter, Ivanka, usually takes center stage on the campaign trail, but as the Trump campaign attempts to soften his image, they are deploying more family members on the campaign trail.

Donald Trump’s wife, Melania, spoke on Monday night and thought she was well-received by delegates, she didn’t offer as many personal anecdotes as her stepdaughter did. Trump’s son, Donald Jr., also spoke at the convention Tuesday night, and Ivanka Trump will introduce her father Thursday night.
