Trump: Cuban not smart enough to run for president

President Trump Sunday dismissed one of his potential 2020 reelection opponents, tweeting Sunday that businessman Mark Cuban is not smart enough to be president.

“I know Mark Cuban well,” Trump wrote. “He backed me big-time but I wasn’t interested in taking all of his calls. He’s not smart enough to run for president!

Trump may have been reacting to a New York Post story claiming that the White House’s “biggest fear” is that Cuban will run against Trump.

“He’s not a typical candidate,” the Post quoted an “insider” as saying. “He appeals to a lot of people the same way Trump did.”

Later in the day, Cuban repsonded, tweeting, “Isn’t it better for all of us that he is tweeting rather than trying to govern?”

Cuban, who owns the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, was critical of Trump during the 2016 campaign.
