Tim Jackson is a senior director with Cushman & Wakefield, the world?s largest privately held real estate services firm with offices in Baltimore and 54 other countries.
The firm has been busy this year leasing space at 250 W. Pratt St. to area companies. The 24-story office tower sits close to Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor.
Jackson spoke to The Examiner on Tuesday about commercial real estate trends in Baltimore City.
Where are businesses looking to locate in Baltimore?
I think there?s been a trend of movement to the east ? specifically Harbor East and Harbor Point. Some of these companies are relocating from the central business district. You do have businesses wanting to come to the west, with locations like 250 W. Pratt St. and with the construction of the hotel convention center.
What can you say about businesses wanting to move into the western part of the city?
If you look at it, Cannon Design has relocated to 250 W. Pratt St., and that move will help the company increase in size, the law firm of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice is new to the building and Baltimore City, and Turner Construction Co. relocated to Baltimore City. If you look at the companies that have moved intothe building, I?ll bet roughly half are new tenants to Baltimore City.
What?s happening next for Cushman & Wakefield?
There continues to be demand for businesses along Pratt Street. We?re expecting to report on some other deals pretty soon.
