One week after the end of their hotly contested race for U.S. Senate, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-Texas, flashed smiles together on Tuesday.
“@BetoORourke & @tedcruz, thank you for showing us the best of America today @ IAH,” Tiffany Easter tweeted, sharing a photo of the former political foes after apparently bumping into them at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
“Thanks for the conversion, courage, humility, and inspiration. Post-election doesn’t mean the conversation and civic engagement stops—in fact, it means the opposite. Thanks for your public service!” Easter, a graduate student at Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government & Public Service, added.

Easter did not immediately respond to a request for comment; representatives for Cruz and O’Rourke also did not return the Washington Examiner‘s inquiries.
Cruz won re-election last week for a second term in Washington. Though Texas is a traditionally red state, polls showed O’Rourke, a well-funded Democrat who gained national attention, was within striking distance.
Cruz earned 50.9 percent of the vote, compared to 48.3 percent who backed O’Rourke. Since the 2018 midterm elections, O’Rourke has downplayed rising speculation he is about to become a 2020 Democratic presidential contender.
