When it comes to his daily intelligence briefing, President-elect Trump prefers to keep things simple.
The incoming Republican president has received a briefing from intelligence officials several times a week since his victory in November, and says he likes the briefing to be delivered to him in one page or less.
“I like bullets or I like as little as possible,” Trump told Axios in an interview published Wednesday. “I don’t need, you know, 200-page reports on something that can be handled on a page. That I can tell you.”
Trump had previously come under criticism for refusing to receive a briefing every morning, and said last month that they can be repetitive when nothing new is included. The president-elect has said, however, that he instructed intelligence officials to contact him immediately if something changes or a new threat arises.
Being briefed on the greatest threats to America’s national security seems to have become a sobering experience for Trump, who has promised to “solve the problems” as he learns more about them.
“I’ve had a lot of briefings that are very … I don’t want to say ‘scary’ because I’ll solve the problems. But we have some big enemies out there in this country and we have some very big enemies – very big and, in some cases, strong enemies,” he said.
“You also realize that you’ve got to get it right because a mistake would be very, very costly in so many different ways,” Trump added.
