A new poll found that more voters support Donald Trump for president than Hillary Clinton, a rare loss for the former secretary of state against the billionaire mogul.
It’s the first time the former secretary of state has lost to the New York businessman in a national Fox News poll.
Trump won 45 percent of likely voters’ support. A net 42 percent of respondents picked Clinton in the May 14-17 Fox News poll.
Clinton has dropped from 49 percent in March, while Trump has steadily grown his support from the 38 percent he received two months ago.
Despite Clinton’s loss to Trump, Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders beat the likely Republican presidential nominee, but with a lower margin of victory than in previous surveys.
A net 46 percent of voters picked the Democratic socialist in a head-to-head face-off with Trump, who took 42 percent of support. Sanders has lost support since last month’s match-up against Trump, when he claimed 53 percent.
Trump’s improvement in the polls coincides with increases in his favorability rates, which have increased over recent months as Clinton’s have decreased.
Trump also won in a hypothetical three-way fight between himself, Clinton and Libertarian Gary Johnson. Trump won 42 percent, Clinton snagged 39 percent and Johnson received 10 percent.
The polls had a 3 percent margin of error.
