Former Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina said she supports impeaching President Trump.
“I think it is vital that he be impeached, [but] whether removed this close to an election, I don’t know. But I think the conduct is impeachable,” she told CNN.
The former Hewlett-Packard CEO, who ran against Trump in 2016, said the president’s conduct was “destructive to the republic.”
House Democrats announced two articles of impeachment against Trump last week, charging him with abuse of power and obstruction in Congress after an investigation into his pressuring of Ukraine officials to investigate his political rival Joe Biden and alleged interference in the 2016 election. The full House is expected to vote on the articles on Wednesday.
Trump reportedly considered Fiorina for the director of national intelligence position, and she said she voted him in 2016. She said she has since been “bitterly disappointed” by Trump, but wouldn’t rule out voting for him in 2020.
“It depends who the Democrats put up,” she said.
