Democratic Party supporters are attributing Republicans’ unexpectedly poor results in the midterm elections to the success of Joe Biden, aka “Dark Brandon,” on social media.
The pro-Biden meme saw a surge of interest Tuesday night.
“Dark Brandon having the best midterm of an incumbent president in decades,” tweeted the Lincoln Project.
MIDTERM ELECTIONS MADE BIDEN STRONGER AND TRUMP WEAKER

“WELCOME TO THE RED DRIBBLE! The BEST midterms for any 1st term POTUS in decades” tweeted Keith Olbermann in an intro for his podcast. “Biden goes from Dark Horse to Dark Brandon. 2020 Deniers thwarted. Fetterman elected. Crudites for everybody! And the GOP Is already blaming Trump.”
Others drew inspiration from the meme, posting pictures of Biden drinking a mug labeled “MAGA tears.”
Lots of counting left to do, but so far I’d say this is last night in an image pic.twitter.com/rmMXpbOvKr

“Dark Brandon” is a Democratic play on “Let’s Go, Brandon,” an anti-Biden chant from late 2021. While the meme initially started as an attempt by right-wing accounts to slam Biden, it was soon appropriated by Democrats to promote the president and his viewpoints over the summer. The meme has been shared by several politicians and White House staff members.
