Scoop: Whitney says her mom saved her

After years of denial about her much-rumored drug use, Whitney Houston is finally coming clean in her two-part interview with Oprah Winfrey.

“She does not blame [ex-husband] Bobby Brown and she takes full responsibility for her engagement in drugs,” the talk show queen revealed before the sit-down aired. “At one point she says, ‘I didn’t get out of my pajamas for seven months.'”

The “I Look to You” singer also recalled how a last-ditch intervention by her mother – and a police escort – was what helped her change her destructive lifestyle.

“One day, my mother came to my house, she walks in with these sheriffs,” Whitney confided. “She said, ‘I’m not losing you to the world – I have a court injunction here – you’re either going to do it my way or we’re just not going to do this at all.  We’re both going to go on TV and you’re going to retire. This is not worth it.'”

Mom Cissy also warned Bobby Brown, “If you move, Bobby, they’re going to take you down.” Whitney says, “He stood there like he was scared. She said, ‘Let’s go. Let’s do this.'”

No doubt fans everywhere owe Cissy a debt of gratitude for stopping what could have been a tragic downward spiral.

Britney: Catalog shopper?

Britney Spears may be doing what powerful men in Hollywood have been doing for decades: deploying the casting couch as a weapon of seduction. A source tells the New York Daily News that the pop princess recently used a male modeling catalog the way most of us would use a Chinese-food delivery menu.

The “Womanizer” singer, said to be rebounding from manager beau Jason Trawick (they haven’t confirmed a split), apparently had a hankering for some man candy-so she started perusing photos in modeling-agency catalogs.

After picking her favorite, she supposedly had her camp reach out to hunky Ford client Bekim Trenova, offering him an “audition” for a Britney music video.

But, surprise, surprise: When he got there, there was no camera crew,” relays the insider. “There was just Britney. She was looking sexy. She made it pretty clear that she was less interested in hiring him than in dating him.”

Despite being himself recently split from a Victoria’s Secret model, “Bekim found the whole scene very weird,” says the source. “He was polite but not interested. He made some excuse to get out of there.”

The “Circus” star’s rep said the tale was “completely false. She doesn’t know this guy,” while the model himself gave the paper a laughing “no comment.”

Translation: “This may or may not be a total fabrication, but I’ll get more press if I keep the rumor going.” (Drat! It worked!)

Speidi: Baby Time?

Heidi Montag has baby fever. But her husband, Spencer Pratt, says no way is he bringing a child into his life.

“If she gets pregnant, I told her there’s a divorce or adoption,” the “Hills” heel declared to reporters. “If she’s not down with the adoption, I think it’s divorce.”

Whoa – why the scorn for his own (hypothetical) offspring? Unsurprisingly, it’s because Spencer doesn’t want to share the spotlight.

“I’m a baby,” explains the self-centered reality star. “I’m not prepared. And I’m not sure the world wants a Spencer Pratt spawn.”

Wow. For once, the dude said something we completely agree with.
