Hillary Clinton argued for raising childcare workers’ wages by comparing children to dogs Monday in Detroit.
“I believe in training dogs,” Clinton said at a union convention. “But you don’t dress your dog up and send your dog to kindergarten, do you?”
“Dog trainers are paid more than childcare workers,” Clinton said, and listed a variety of opportunities that dogs are not able to pursue.
“You don’t dream of sending your dog to college, do you? You don’t worry about whether your dog is going to be exposed to dangerous influences because you can’t afford quality childcare, do you?” Clinton said. “This is crazy.”
In May, Clinton released a pricey, wide-ranging childcare plan that included raising pay for childcare workers.
She also expressed her inner canine in February, barking like a dog during a story meant to insult Republicans.
