Michael Cohen ‘shocked’ anyone would take Omarosa’s claim that Trump chewed paper note ‘seriously’

President Trump never chewed a piece of paper following a West Wing meeting with Michael Cohen, the president’s former personal lawyer said Sunday, slapping down claims made by former White House aide Omarosa Manigault Newman in her forthcoming book.

“[To] the many dozens of #journalists who called me, questioning @OMAROSA claim in her new book that @POTUS @realDonaldTrump took a note from me, put it in his mouth and ate it…I saw NO such thing and am shocked anyone would take this seriously,” Cohen wrote on Twitter.

In excerpts of Manigault Newman’s “Unhinged” memoir, the reality TV star recalls how she escorted Cohen into the Oval Office in 2017 and saw Trump chewing paper upon his former fixer’s exit from the room.

“I saw him put a note in his mouth,” she writes, according to the Washington Post. “Since Trump was ever the germaphobe, I was shocked he appeared to be chewing and swallowing the paper. It must have been something very, very sensitive.”

White House officials pushed back on the anecdote, per the newspaper. One staffer, however, did confirm Manigault Newman brought Cohen into the presidential complex, but added that she was reprimanded for doing so.

Manigault Newman’s controversial book, due to be released Aug. 12, also details how she believes Trump is “a racist, a bigot and a misogynist.” Her statements contradict her past vehement support of the president.
