Russian President Vladimir Putin said he doesn’t have bad days because he’s “not a woman” in new footage provided to Bloomberg from Oliver Stone’s upcoming four-part documentary, “The Putin Chronicles.”
“I am not a woman, so I don’t have bad days,” Putin said. “I am not trying to insult anyone. That’s just the nature of things. There are certain natural cycles.”
The quote is one of many Stone gathered through interviews that span the course of more than two years, giving him unprecedented access to Putin. He films Putin playing hockey, flexing his muscles as he works out and, at one point, Stone even rides shotgun as Putin drives through the streets of Moscow.
Following suit with his previous interviews and films highlighting the infamous lives of former Cuban President Fidel Castro and former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Stone allows Putin to speak on numerous topics with little pushback. Putin openly criticizes U.S. foreign policy, discusses mutually assured destruction, reflects on Russia’s decision to offer NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden asylum in 2013 and praises his controversial legislation that critics argue serves as discrimination against homosexuals.
The first two hour-long episodes of “The Putin Chronicles” will air on June 12 and 15 on Showtime.
