District police are searching for the driver of a car who ran away from the scene after hitting two American University students in Northwest Thursday night.
The male and female students were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said D.C. police spokesman Junis Fletcher. Early reports indicated the male student was in critical condition, but Fletcher said the man should be OK.
The students were walking at the intersection of Wisconsin and Nebraskaavenues in Tenleytown at about 11 p.m., when the driver of a light blue Honda hit them. The driver then fled on foot.
Police said the owner of the Honda told them he let a friend borrow the car.
