Rubio willing to speak on Trump’s behalf at convention

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio plans to attend the GOP convention and will likely run again for political office.

In an interview with CNN, Rubio expressed his desire to help Donald Trump defeat Hillary Clinton in November, but he stopped short of making a formal endorsement.

“Yeah, my sense is that I’m going to go to the convention,” Rubio said. “I don’t know if I’ll have a role in the convention, but I have a lot of people going there that were supporters.”

“But if Donald Trump asked you to speak on his behalf, you would do so?” asked CNN.

“I’d certainly, yeah, I want to be helpful, I don’t want to be harmful because I don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president,” Rubio answered. “Look, my policy differences with Donald Trump, I spent 11 months talking about. So I think they’re well understood. That said, I don’t want Hillary Clinton to be president.”

Rubio also said it’s a “safe assumption” that he would run again for political office, but he ruled out serving as Trump’s vice president. He also said he would release delegates bound to him for the Republican National Convention.

“I don’t know where I’m going to be in two years,” Rubio told CNN. “I can tell you I enjoy public service, if there’s an opportunity to serve again in a way that I feel passionate about, I most certainly think I’d explore it. But I don’t know where I’m going to be in two years. I don’t know what my life will look like then.”
