Television may be about to go to the dogs.
A channel known as Dog TV, which seeks to air programs “scientifically developed to provide the right company for dogs when left alone” and is aimed at making the viewer “a confident, happy dog, who’s less likely to develop stress, separation anxiety or other related problems,” will launch Monday in the United Kingdom.
“DOGTV is scientifically designed and programs are divided into 3 categories, to meet a dog’s typical daily cycle and enrich their environment,” DogTV’s website reads. “While your dog’s sense of smell is their primary scent, hearing and vision are also super important. Just like a walk, DOGTV exposes your dog to new stimuli, but in the form of images and sound. This is how DOGTV provides enrichment for your dog.”

The channel was developed based on more than 60 scientific studies that concluded “visual stimuli can impact a dog’s behavior” and “dogs are positively impacted by listening to classical music than by other auditory stimulation,” among other findings.
