Trump uses terror attacks to boast that he can handle ISIS

Donald Trump kicked Independence Day off with a series of tweets about terrorist attacks that took place around the globe over the weekend, arguing that he was best equipped to deal with the problem.

“The third mass attack (slaughter) in days by ISIS. 200 dead in Baghdad, worst in many years. We do not have leadership that can stop this!” Trump opined. Before that, he commented on a Saturday attack in the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, saying, “In Bangladesh, hostages were immediately killed by ISIS terrorists if they were unable to cite a verse from the Koran. 20 were killed!”

Sunday’s suicide truck bomb in Baghdad followed a Saturday attack on a cafe in Dhaka and a June 28 assault at the Ataturk airport in Istanbul. The attacks left hundreds dead, including at least one American.

Affiliates of the Islamic State have taken credit for the assaults, which have taken place as the Islamic holy month of Ramadan draws to a close. In May, an Islamic State spokesman called on adherents to make the holiday “a month of pain for infidels everywhere.”

Trump used the occasion to hit Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, saying, “Crooked Hillary will NEVER be able to handle the complexities and danger of ISIS — it will just go on forever. We need change!”

Clinton issued a message of her own on Sunday, saying on Twitter that the attack in Baghdad was “another horrific example of ISIS’s savagery.”

“We will defeat them,” Clinton added. “My prayers are with the victims’ families.”
