Need help following the law? Prince George’s County police are going to pay people to walk the straight and narrow, or at least to ride in cars more safely.

The police are teaming up with the Maryland Highway Safety Office to pay people to use a seat belt, passing out $1 for buckling up. The money was donated by Prince George’s Community Federal Credit Union.

Drivers will receive $1 if everyone in their vehicle is buckled in during four events at local shopping centers, police said. It’s part of the national Click It or Ticket campaign to educate people about seat belts. It starts on Wednesday. 

So buckle up and drive on up for an easy buck:

  • Wednesday, May 11, 2011 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Capital Centre at the Boulevard (near Chick-Fil-A)
  • May 16, 2011 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Woodmore Center (near Wegmans)
  • May 18, 2011 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Bowie Town Center (near Bed Bath and Beyond)
  • May 24, 2011 11:30 – 1:30 p.m. – Beltsville area (exact location to be announced)
