Hillary Clinton’s advantage over Donald Trump grew 2 percentage points in the past week, according to the Economist/YouGov’s tracking survey.
Clinton leads Trump by 3 percentage points, 44-41, up from 42-41 in May.
The likely Democratic nominee fares much worse than her Democratic primary opponent, socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has an 11 percentage point lead over Trump. Clinton, however, bests Sanders in a head-to-head matchup, 52-41, nationwide.
A majority of Sanders supporters, 52 percent, want him to run as an independent. But voters of all stripes have little interest in any particular independent or third party candidate at this point. Approximately 16 percent of all respondents want to see 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney run again. Just 12 percent of respondents would consider voting for Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson, whereas 21 percent said they would never do so.
The Economist/YouGov poll surveyed 2,000 respondents online. The poll had a 3.2-percentage-point margin of error and was conducted June 2-5.
