A homeowner shot a man who had broken into a San Antonio home Thursday night, according to police.
San Antonio Police and San Antonio Fire Department arrived at the scene of the reported shooting after 10 p.m. on the southeast side of the city to find a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. They attempted to transport him to a nearby hospital, but he died during the ride.

The suspect had reportedly entered the home through a back door that led to a laundry room and was attempting to break into another door that led to the rest of the house. His commotion caught the attention of the homeowner, who then shot him twice.
Three children were present in the home at the time, according to police. No one else was injured.

Police do not expect to charge the homeowner.
