The University of Hawaii sent an email to students and faculty with the subject line “In the event of a nuclear attack” on Monday.
“In light of concerns about North Korea missile tests, state and federal agencies are providing information about nuclear threats and what to do in the unlikely event of a nuclear attack and radiation emergency,” the UH email said, according to Hawaii News Now.
The message corresponds to a state-wide campaign that has been launched to prepare the islands for a potential nuclear missile attack from North Korea.
North Korea has conducted a series of nuclear tests, the largest one occurring on Sept. 3.
The Trump administration released new financial sanctions last month against North Korea which would limit foreign companies to conduct business with either only the United States or North Korea in an attempt to isolate the nation.
