Prominent Texas politicians reacted throughout the night to the deadly shooting of 11 police officers Thursday during a peaceful protest that left four of the officers dead.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott mourned with the Dallas law enforcement community and said “In times like this we must remember — and emphasize — the importance of uniting as Americans.”

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick also tweeted out his “thoughts and prayers” to the police officers shot.

Sen. Ted Cruz took to Twitter to praise law enforcement for “selflessly run into harm’s way to save the lives of others.”

In a separate statement, Cruz said his office is ready to provide local authorities support “to help in assisting the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice.”
